Romantic Times gave it 4 Stars! Anne Patrick’s realistic depiction of cattle ranching is what makes this story sing. Readers will feel like they are on Jenny’s spread with her, looking out at her fields and animals. The amount of detail that the author uses for the setting is also carried through with the characters. The multidimensional Jenny and Gil really get to know each other before starting up their romance. And they never shy away from discussing important things like Jenny's deceased husband and Gil’s time in the war. The pair also discusses their faith in God, which leaves the reader with a subtle, yet inspiring message of hope.
4.5 Books from LASR! In Renegade Hearts, author Anne Patrick takes a bunch of strong and delightful characters and presents a charming, gentle story of family love, family differences, of loss and the courage to go forward. And as is her way, Ms Patrick chucks in some suspense and weaves it through the book, not revealing the outcome until the end of the story....And brilliant wordsmith that she is, Anne Patrick writes a tight and fluent tale where every word matters. There are emotional highs and lows and laughter and tears. There is crime, greed and betrayals. Whether writing on-the-edge-of-your-seat mystery and suspense, or gentle family life with suspense entwined, Anne Patrick is an author worthy of your Keeper shelf.
TwoLipsReviews: Renegade Hearts is a beautiful story about faith, perseverance, hard work, and the ability to love again. Anne Patrick did a wonderful job on Jenny and Gil’s story and on describing the workings of a ranch. This is a book that was well worth reading and will definitely be read again.

I knew when I saw the totally awesome cover of Renegade Hearts that I absolutely had to find out the tale within. I was immediately drawn in by the gentle prose of this story. It truly matched the cover with an easy ebb and flow that I just loved! Though it was not an edge-of-your-seat type story I found myself glued to the pages because I became so involved with its true-to-life well-drawn characters. You will fall in love with each one them. Gil was an excellent leading man. I just loved the way he was with Jenny and Zach. (Big sigh!) Jenny is someone to admire. She was strong and independent but reasonable and tender. Zach will steal your heart hands down! He is such a great little man! And Buddy, Gil's Dad, was a total gem! Now don't get me wrong, this did have a mystery to it and as typical with Anne Patrick's stories, you don't find out the whole truth until the end. She always keeps you guessing. I just LOVED Renegade Hearts! It's an easy, feel-good, up-lifting tale you won't want to miss. A thank you goes to the author for providing this complimentary copy for my review.

I loved the characters and the setting. A little bit of a western touch to the romance. The hurdles Jenny has to go through was enlightening. The twists in the book make for a great suspense. The book has a little bit of everything to entice the reader. Another great book I would recommend. Click on Babs link to read the whole review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance! The inspirational thread wasn't overbearing, the characters truly endearing. I especially loved Zach. What a kid! Jenny lost her husband a couple of years ago and is still nursing a broken heart. Along comes Gil who is recovering from a war injury that ended a career he loved. In Jenny and Zach he sees a possible new lease on life, but will he be able to win over Jenny with his charm and devotion to her son? You'll have to by the book to find out. I highly recommend it!

I've read Anne Patrick before, so I knew I'd be in for a great read. And I was in no way disappointed. These two have great chemistry -- that zing we all love -- but respect for each other and their morals are grounded without it being a sore spot in the book. I really enjoyed it.

When I saw it and the picture on the front cover, I thought another predictable love story. I should have known better. After all Anne Patrick did write it and she never fails to satisfy. Compared to the cover the love part of this book is a quiet growing love. There is so much more to it than that. Jenny is really fighting her battles of being a widow and running a ranch and always wanting to be in charge. Gil has his memories to deal with. Then there is the mystery that I won't talk about because I want the reader to be surprised. Jenny and Gils problems are very believable and I came to like all the characters in this book.
Martha's Bookshelf gave it 4.5 stars!
The characters are real and draw you into their world. Even young Zach is a well developed character and you can feel the exuberant boy in him. The author portrays good detail for the cattle ranching and breeding business that provides fullness for the setting and plot. There are trained horses, horses to be trained and foals to marvel over. The plot includes a bit of thievery and suspense, in addition to the romance. Both plot elements kept me interested in how things would be handled... This is a truly lovely, sweet read that will leave you with a nice “ahhh” felling when it is done.
